Hitchin’ a Ride

Below is a quick post from Alan Mowbray, the ‘captain’ of the flight shown in the video below. Thanks again for the trip!
DETAILS
AIRFIELD SLEAP, SHROPSHIRE – EGCV
AIRCRAFT G-LORR
FLIGHT CONDITIONS VFR
VMC – CAVOK
CAPTAIN Alan Mowbray NPPL
PASSENGERS 2
DATE 28/8/12
In the early days of my flying starting at Sleap in 1990 there was an unwritten rule that if you had spare seats in the Aircraft you would offer it to training pilots in order that they could appreciate flying without having to fully concentrate on holding on to the Aircraft themselves
This is how I came to offer Chris a flight as passenger that particular day. However being an Old Pilot I did not realise that the camera he was holding had video capabilities as well as stills. So the flight you see in Hitchin a Ride is totally unrehearsed and natural – good job I didn’t swear too much!!
The conditions were very good that day but the wind was challenging at 30 kts or so at 2000 feet.
I got to know Chris and his family at Sleap during his training as he flew on the same day as me, helping him to refuel G-BNKS Cessna 152 when he successfully completed his number 5 cross country, smiling from ear to ear!!
This video is available to view below. I hope you enjoy it!

Shobdon to Coventry – C152 Flight

Last weekend I drove down to Shobdon airfield to meet a good friend of mine for a day of flying. The plan for the day was a good one – a flight to Coventry to visit ProPilot, an ATPL theory provider. It was a lovely day for flying, and below you can see the result….
